LAYING UP OF FORMER STANDARD. 

On Sunday, 15th May 201118 members of the Branch attended the Burslem Methodist Mission Church for the Ceremony of Laying up of our former Standard. There is a link with this Church as they are responsible for the annual Remembrance Day service. The Standard, carried by Chris Tong, and escorted by Jack Beckett and Chris Smith was paraded up the centre aisle a the church. They passed through a Guard of Honour formed by local RAMC Cadets under the command of S/Sgt. Dave Cooke and Sgt. Harold Gregory. Last Post and Reveille was sounded with the Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph being spoken by Malcolm Lloyd. The Branch President Brigadier Barry Smith CBE, received the Standard and formally requested the church Minister, Re’ Ashley Cooper to retain that Standard in perpetuity, a task that he accepted. The Standard will at a later date, be mounted on the well inside the church, alongside a Standard of the Staffordshire Regimental Association.
