CORPS SUNDAY, 26th June 2011 26 June 2011 At the unearthly hour of 0630 Nine intrepid travelers set off from Cobridge in the direction of Aldershot, to join the Three already there, to take part in the Corps Sunday celebrations. We were piloted ably by S/Sgt. Dave Cooke of the RAMC ACF. Because of other commitments there was some space in the minibus, and the places had been offered to 3 members of the RAMC ACF who were attending for the first time. We arrived safely with time to take in the atmosphere, and it was a great thrill for the Cadets to meet a Chelsea Pensioner, who was an ex-member of the Corps. The service was a lively one, and the sermon was preached by The Bishop of the Falkland Islands. After the service a March Past took place, with the Cadets proudly marching with the veterans, with music provided by the Regimental Band. We then had a substantial lunch in the Princes Hall, Aldershot. During the meal it has become a custom for regular soldiers to share table with the vets, and our cadets found themselves sitting with some, of whom two had been in the cadets before enlisting. At 1530 we set off for home, a longer journey in time, due to some minor accidents of the M6 Motorway, (not us), arriving back at base at 2000 hours. It was a long but enjoyable day for all. | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
